A Bed For Your Dog
01 Feb 2010
If you are like my mother, then you will never bear any pet in your house. But if you are not, you will surely do your best to let your pet feel safe and delighted.
Does your dog need a bed? Of course he does. You buy clothes for him, take him to the doctor regularly. He is a member of the family.
What a dog needs from you is attention, but what you need from your dog is something else. You expect from them far too much — love, protection and loyalty. Things that most of you cannot find in humans and sometimes in yourselves, too.
You may wonder why you should buy a dogs bed. There are two main reasons for that — space and comfort.
Space — If your dog knows that he has his own “corner” he will hardly ever rush into your bed to sleep or to play with you. Just like any child, they need to be on their own but of course under your control.
The necessity of having a bed is also quite evident in the case of older dogs who want to be alone in their special place and enjoy their rest.
Comfort — You may think that you let your dog do whatever he wants in your bed. But are you sure? Can he gambol and roll around in your bed when you are still sleeping? You will surely allow him to do that in his, because he won’t disturb your rest or sleep. So, it will mean comfort both for you and your dog.
You need to pay attention to three things when buying a dogs bed — size, shape and design. Different dogs have different characteristics and different needs. So, you will have to consider carefully in what type of bed he would feel comfortable (in a big or a small one, in a round or a square one).
You can’t know that beforehand. You have to study his behavior for some time and only after that decide which dog bed would better fit your dog.
If you notice that your dog has created his own little world in one of the corners of your house, you should buy dog pens, which allow your dog to have a bed and a small house within one. If you notice that your dog spends most of his time on your sofa, then you should buy dog sofas or do-nut dog beds.
Also consider pillow dog beds or heated dog beds if your dog always lies where it’s warm.
The prices of the beds depend on the size, material and design you want your dog’s bed to have. They vary between $30-$250.
Your dog needs to have his bed like you and me. It would be a simple, but great pleasure for him. So why deny him of that?
