Proper Cat Diet Is Important

Cats are favorite pets for many families. Keeping a cat, however, is not that easy. There are some essential things to remember concerning their nutrition and care.
The right and proper nutrition is important for cats. Feeding cats a purely vegetarian diet isn’t right. Cats have a high demand of proteins a cat diet should basically be composed of 60 percent protein. Meat, eggs, dairy products and poultry tend to be good sources of protein and are digested well.
Give your pet a raw or cooked organic chicken, organic ground beef, other meats like turkey or rabbit, and cooked fish. Make sure to cook ground meats to eliminate bacterial contaminants.
Twenty percent of a cat diet should be composed of vegetables such as corn, zucchini, steamed broccoli, carrots and cauliflower.
Carbohydrates, such as sugars and starches, are a source of energy for cats. Fat is essential for cats to absorb vitamins. Fats also tend to stimulate their appetite.
Don’t forget that your cat cannot live without water. Always supply your cat with fresh water in his dish.
If your cat is overweight put it on a diet. However, you should consult a veterinarian before doing it. A natural cat diet will eliminate the risk of diseases. Ensure that your cat’s daily foods are free of hormones, chemicals and pesticides. Consider weighing your cat several times a month.
And finally don’t forget to play with your cat. You already know that cats like to be caressed.
