Tips For Hamster Care
06 Mar 2010
Hamsters are some of the most favorite pets around the world. They are very cute and lovable.
I am crazy about pet hamsters. Last month my father gave me a Syrian hamster on my birthday.
Syrian hamsters are also called Golden hamsters and they have dark colored markings on their jaws and cheeks. They live from two to three years. Their length is approximately six to seven inches, the tail is very short, and the feet are hairless.
At first I didn’t have any idea about hamster care but I soon realized that it’s quite easy to take care of hamsters.
I feed my hamster vegetables such as cauliflower, cabbage and carrots, seeds and fruits like raisins, apples and grapes. Citrus fruits are harmful to hamsters so I don’t consider them for my pet. I give my hamster one kind of food at a time, since food shouldn’t be mixed in one plate. I change his food and water every day.
I keep my hamster in a clean and dry cage made of stainless steel. There is a log inside the cage on which my hamster chews. I wash the cage once a week wiping out any debris, drying the inside and adding clean straw bedding so he won’t get an allergic reaction.
Hamsters love playing with toys. I give it various hamster toys play with, like a hamster wheel, a toilet paper roll, balls, mirrors and tubes.
I like watching my pet for hours and I feel stress-free when I caress it tenderly.
