Provide A Healthy Life For Your Cat
24 Sep 2009
The right nutrition is essential for your cat to live a long time. Cat feeding isn’t an easy task, and cat owners should understand what cats need in their diet.
Cats are carnivores and they need to eat meat. They also need vitamins, amino acids and fatty acids. These nutrients are essential for body tissues, as they supply energy. By the way, the proper amount of vitamins and minerals should be contained in your cat’s food. Don’t give your cat daily vitamin supplements as they may be dangerous.
Cat food can be dry and moist. Your cat can chew dry foods more actively and drink more water. If your cat eats moist food, he will eat too much and drink less.
Your cat’s food should be at room temperature so that your pet will be able to taste and smell the food properly. Wet food shouldn’t be left open longer than 24 hours.
Another very important element is water. It helps your cat digest its food and regulates body temperature, so it’s important to provide clean and fresh water. Also don’t give your cat cow’s milk–only specially formulated “cat milk” can be given to cats.
Don’t give your cat human food to prevent weight gain. Also remember that human food contains high calories and may lack the essential nutrients your cat needs.
Take these factors into consideration so your pet will be healthy and live long.
