Right Nutrition For Dogs
24 Sep 2009
Dogs are considered to be faithful members of the family, and dogs nutrition is just as important as the nutrition of other family members. A dog’s health depends on the right nutrition.
When feeding your dog pay attention to the following factors:
- Don’t add human food to dog’s food as it can upset your dog’s nutrient balance. You should not give food to your dog from the table, as your dog can form a habit and even steal food from the table when you’re not looking.
- It’s important to feed your dog at regular hours. Give only as much food as necessary to keep your dog fit.
- Try to avoid giving additional food even if your dog “begs” for it.
- Milk shouldn’t be given instead of water.
- Raw fish and eggs shouldn’t be added to a dog’s food as they can cause vitamin deficiency.
- Raw meat can contain parasites and bacteria, and if too much is given to your dog it skeletal problems may occur.
- Chicken, lamb and salmon contain proteins which are needed in a dog’s diet.
- Calcium and phosphorus are also very important nutrients for your dog. Nutrients play an integral role in strengthening bones and teeth; they also develop cells and tissues and they give your dog energy.
If you feed your dog properly, your pet will more likely avoid diseases that are caused due to bad nutrition. Your dog deserves the right care, so don’t disappoint him.
